Shawn M. Maldon, M.Ed

Chairman & Executive Director 

Shawn Maldon is the Executive Director of The Maldon Foundation. As the founder and CEO of The Maldon Brand (a business conglomerate spanning many different fields), his background and expertise in business development and entrepreneurship add great value to his role as Executive Director. As a nationally certified interpreter, Maldon founded Maldon Language Interpreters, LLC in 2011 and the company currently holds several Federal contracts and has a national presence. By literally providing a voice for those who are Deaf and do not speak, Maldon is proud of the work the company does helping bridge worlds together through communication. Maldon is no stranger to marginalized people or communities that face obstacles. His passion and desire to develop solutions for problems facing the community is what ultimately birthed the idea of The Maldon Foundation, and is what fuels his work as the Executive Director.

 

Maldon graduated from Howard University in Washington, DC with a degree in Political Science and a degree in Spanish. He attended Law School at Southern University Law Center changed directions and obtained a Master’s of Education degree from Northeastern University in Boston, MA in 2011. 

Elected in May 2018, Maldon serves as Mayor of Capitol Heights, MD. In his role as Mayor, he represents the Town on all official business and, as he likes to say, he is the chief problem solver for issues residents face. At age 32, Mayor Maldon made history as the youngest person elected Mayor of Capitol Heights. 

 

As a licensed foster parent, mentor, educator, and business leader & coach, Mayor Maldon has dedicated his life to service and to his community. He proudly considers himself a servant-leader and is excited to lead The Maldon Foundation down the journey of BUILDING A STRONGER COMMUNITY.

 

 

 

Development Director

[Position Open]

Development Director of The Maldon Foundation

The Maldon Foundation seeks a part-time Development Director to head our ongoing fundraising and operational needs. Reporting to the executive director, this professional must have an established background in coordinating nonprofit donation strategies and staff/volunteer leadership.

​

This role involves organizing large-scale fundraising initiatives, working with board members, managing our annual fund and building relationships with donors, staff and volunteers. The development director will also assist in the creation and implementation of on-going community programs with the help of volunteers. 

​
